Catch Up

It's official---I'm a slacker! With nearly two months passing since my last post it's no surprise that with each passing day, I receive more emails and texts begging for photos of Sweet Bean and news about her latest shenanigans.

My bad, y'all!

So without spending anymore time on unnecessary verbiage, I'll get down to basics and begin our summer recap the best way I know how---through pictures, of course!

Goodbye to the past
This summer marked my dad's official retirement. Despite a surprise retirement luncheon and all the ensuing goodbye hoopla, I'm not sure Dad actually got the message. He's busier than ever!

Hello to the future
At Dad's retirement luncheon I caught a glimpse Sweet Bean and immediately felt the next few years flash before my eyes. With backpack and all, I saw my not-so distant future and with it came the sad realization that my baby girl is growing up much too quickly! Soon she'll wear this backpack for real instead of play and be headed off for her first day of school. Talk about a reality check---yikes!

GG is two!
What? When? How can it be? Two years have gone by in the blink of an eye leaving me wishing I could slow the hands of Father Time. My Sweet Bean is just so grown up! She's become quite the Southern Belle, a true little lady. We celebrated the big 0-2 with a low key affair---just us, presents, cake, and about 20 monkeys with balloons!

The heat was nothing short of brutal this summer! And even though I found it nearly impossible to "grin and bear it" while playing outside, it became apparent that heat just doesn't bother my two-year old!

Cooling Off
What's summer without a popsicle---or five hundred?!

Twinkle Toes
"They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway..." Well, I guess we need to invest in some sunnies then because that's where my baby is headed! That's right, you heard me...A STAR IS BORN!
This August Sweet Bean began dance lessons!

On the move
GG's not the only one on the go---We moved! After just shy of a month on the market we sold our home! Go us! Now on to BIGGER and BETTER things!
{GG giving the old house a goodbye hug!}

And there's more to come---Sweet Bean's 2 year update is coming soon!

Riding along...

Always angling for a little more daddy-daughter time, Gillian Grace surprised Bret with a carrier for his bike for Father's Day. Needless to say it didn't take long before the carrier saw its first bit of action, with the twosome's first bike ride just a few days later. Sweet Bean was good as gold, watching her daddy put the thingamabobs on the whatchamacallits and always doing her best to help out, handing him tools whenever she could until the carrier was finally "good to go!"

As the pair rode off into the sunset (no seriously, it was evening), I must admit that my stomach churned with pangs of worry. But, worry was soon replaced with laughter as I heard GG's little voice echo her daddy's with a "Relax, Momma!" No doubt that won't be the last time I hear that statement---from either of them!
